This year the Winter Solstice takes place on December 21st; we will experience the shortest day and the longest night of the year.
You can align with the Winter Solstice energies with simple rituals that can help you strengthen your own vibration and release unwanted darkness that is no longer serving you.
- Practice gentle Yoga
Try a gentle yoga session, for example, Yin Yoga. You will connect with yourself, move the stagnant energies in the body and release the energies that are not needed any longer. You can set an intention for the session.
- Meditate
Find a quiet room or space, sit in a comfortable position, and light a candle. Close your eyes, breath in and out deeply and focus on your breath. It is normal for thoughts to come and go, just gently say “not now” and focus back on your breath. You can try this simple meditation for 10 breaths or as long as you feel.
- Nourish your body with a warm drink
My favourite drink in winter is Golden Milk (vegan version, in my case). It is full of antioxidants, promotes a healthier brain, heart, and bones, improves digestion, and warmth the body, among other health benefits. This is my personal recipe:
- A glass of plant-based milk (I normally use oat milk).
- 1 ½ tsp of ground turmeric.
- 1 ½ tsp of ground ginger.
- ¼ tsp of ground cinnamon.
- 1 pinch of ground pepper.
- Sweetener of your choice.
In a small saucepan add all the ingredients, whisk to combine, do not boil. Enjoy!
- Give back
While we are busy buying presents, decorating the house, the Christmas tree, and visiting family, some do not have that luxury. Donate food, clothe, or volunteer. This is the best present we can give.
- Be grateful
We should be grateful for all we have; health, family, friends… Any day is the best time to be grateful, however, during this season we can appreciate what we have and all the good people around us.
